A Hug

Categories: Relationships

Arms wrapped around
Without a sound
That’s a hug.

It’s a place of safety
Protection, comfort, love
And a hug can be done
By anyone.

From birth a hug
Will sooth and calm
Make a baby feel secure
Will take away childish fear
If in a hug they are held near.

If I’m feeling down
Don’t speak, give me a hug
When I’m suffering, poorly, weak
A hug will make me strong.

The game won; the race run
Rejoice with me
A hug will say
More than words any day.

After such a long time
I see you again
A mutual hug
Will better express
How much we’ve missed
Each other.

I’m mourning a loved one
Bowed down with grief
A really good hug
Brings relief.

Then there’s the day
When we have to say
Goodbye
Don’t cry! Give me a hug
That will stay with me
In my memory.
