Giver Of Life

Jesus Christ
Lord of Life.
Satisfy my hunger
Living Bread.
Quench my thirst
Living Water.
Revive my soul
Breath of Life.

God’s Language

The language God speaks
Is a language called love
That fills me when I listen
With life from above.

For by dying, God’s Son,
In person brought salvation
Reconciled me to God
Placed me in a new position.

Where I am raised and seated
In Christ with God above
Through the eternal sacrifice
Of His inestimable love.

God’s gift to me is completely free
I just have to receive His mercy and grace
Open my heart, accept His loving gift
With thanks look up into my Father’s face.

Zion

In Zion
City of God
At Mount Moriah
Seen by Yahweh
Wheat threshed
Bruised and crushed
Becomes flour
Flour to make bread
Earthly bread
Nourishing the body
Sustaining life
Till death.

In Zion
On Mount Moriah
Place of threshing
Abraham
Sacrifices his son
His only son
Isaac
The beloved one
A burnt offering
Fragrant aroma
Pleasing to God.

In Zion
City of God
At Golgotha
Place of death
Jesus Christ
Wheat threshed
Bruised and crushed
Becomes bread
Living bread
Nourishing the spirit
Sustaining life
To life eternal.

In Zion
On Mount Calvary
Place of threshing
Father God
Sacrifices His Son
His only Son
Jesus
The Beloved One
A burnt offering
Fragrant aroma
Pleasing to God.

Wholehearted Commitment

When I make Jesus Christ
Lord of my life
I surrender to Him
Three basic rights.
Where I live
How much I give
And how much I might be changed.

I need to carefully listen to all God has to say
Obeying His commandments, walking in His way.

If in obedience I do the will of the Lord
Follow His instructions to the word
Stay on the path He has asked me to take
He will bless and prosper me for His sake
And all will go well with my children too
Because I’m pleasing God in all that I do.

Adoption

What gives God great pleasure ?
My adoption through Jesus Christ
Into His own family
Through His very rich kindness
He purchased my freedom
So through the blood of His Son
My sins are forgiven.
Then with His great kindness
He has showered on me too
Wisdom and understanding
For all that I do.

Horizons

Is Jesus Christ my horizon
Or do I have my own
Into which I try to fit Him
Giving God an earthly throne.

Open the eyes of my heart Lord
That I may only see
You, my glorious horizon
Stretching into eternity.

Extraordinary

Is it just?
Is it right?
That a king
Should be born
In a stable!
Not a palace
How extraordinary!
But He is
No ordinary king.

Is it just?
Is it right?
That the Holy child
Should be placed
In a food trough!
Not a crib
How extraordinary!
But He is
No ordinary Son.

Is it just?
Is it right?
The creator of the world
Should be homeless!
Ostracised: rejected!
How extraordinary!
But He is
No ordinary God.

Is it just?
Is it right?
That a sinless man
Should be hung
On a cross!
Not acquitted
How extraordinary!
But He is
No ordinary man.

Jesus Christ
Equal with God
Humbled Himself
Became a servant
In obedience
Making me righteous
Justified
How extraordinary!
An ordinary person
Brought back to God.

Boundaries

In the beginning
God’s boundaries were set
Day was light; darkness – night
Earth from sky; water from land
All separated
By God’s own hand.
Fish for the sea; birds for the air
Then the pair; man and wife
Into their nostrils
God breathed His life.

To man, all God’s garden
Was totally free.
There was only one small boundary.
Every tree in the garden
Could be used for food
Except one tree
Knowing evil and good
But man disobeyed
Crossed the boundary fixed
Ate from the tree that God forbade
Was afraid – and hid.

Now, because this one rule
Had not been met
Holy God a new boundary set
To keep man out of His Garden
Sweet relationship broken.
Separation.
Over time man went
From bad to worse
Turned away from God
And even cursed
His creator.

The gulf became wider
The boundary higher
Big barrier of sin
Blocked the way
To God’s presence.
But God in His mercy, love & grace
Wanted man to see His face
Sent to earth His son, beloved one
Jesus.

The almighty everlasting God
Stepped down into time
Became a child – Word spoken
Two boundaries now broken.

He lived in our world
Humble – a servant
Lord of all!
Another wall breached
To reach
Me.

Yet the final boundary
That had to be smashed
Was the barrier
That kept me away from God
My sin.

By Christ’s death on the cross
And His rising again
The last boundary crashed
So now I can come
Through the veil of His flesh
To commune once more
With my Father God.
His own blood, the price
To open paradise
For me.

Jesus out of love to reach me
You broke down every boundary
So now I in turn
Reach out to you
With my love, only weak and small
But I give you it all
I love you.

Set Apart

In my failures
Frailties
Imperfections
Through God’s grace
I walk in step
With Christ.

I am blessed.
I am holy,
Sanctified
Set apart
Made right
With God
In Christ.

Beyond The Cross

When I’m standing in the shadow of the cross
I know there must be light beyond
So I will look beyond the cross
To find understanding for which I have longed.

As by faith my gaze passes through the cross
I am met with a wonderful sight
For there in magnificent glory
Stands Christ Jesus in dazzling white.

I know it is Him by the scars he has
He beckons and holds out His hand
Then as I look into His loving face
I move forward and am able to stand.

I am able to stand before Almighty God
Because of his incredible plan
To redeem and restore his creation
Through the resurrection of His Son, become man.
