Light in the Darkness

From disorder and darkness
God formed our world
And, one by one,
By a spoken word
Unfurled the sky
The sun, moon and stars
Gave to this world
His light.

Many years later
In the darkness of night
Once more God spoke
Gave the world His light
By sending His Son
Down to the earth
Announcing to shepherds
The holy birth of Jesus Christ
The Light of the world
God in flesh
The Living Word.

The Open Heaven

Father God you sent your Son
Down to this earth.
At the virgin birth
Shepherds came , and kings from afar
We’re led to worship by a star
And so that angels could praise
You opened heaven.

On the Jordan’s bank
When Jesus sank
In baptismal water
God spoke from above
Declared His love
By sending the dove
From the opened heaven.

When there were only three to see
You gave a glimpse of eternity
When you metamorphosed yourself
Becoming whiter than snow
To show to those on earth below
The true person of Jesus
God’s voice rang out
“This is my Son”
From the opened heaven.

On Good Friday
When darkness fell
God’s beloved Son
Tasted hell
But on Easter morn
Well before dawn
To receive the Redeemer
Heaven opened.
Then on ascension day
To receive Christ Jesus
As King to reign
Heaven opened again.

One Day At A Time

One day at a time
The valleys fill
The mountains flatten
Smoothing the way until
There’s a level highway for the Lord
Then when all is ready
He comes and we see
His glory.

Isaiah 40:3-5

Reflections on a Question

If God is the Creator wouldn’t t He want to be involved and connect with his creation?

He would need to be really intelligent and powerful to keep up to date and to be able control the vast universe and yet be personal enough to love.

When the created wants to connect with the Creator they try and fail.

Through religion people attempt to get to God by ritual and effort.  They fail.

For people in his creation to be able understand such a superior Creator, God would need to come down to their level.

At Christmas we celebrate that this actually happened.

JESUS EMMANUEL.  God with us.

The Creator wants to be involved and connect with His creation!

WOW!

No Christmas

There would be no Christmas
If there were no Christ
No celebration of a divine birth
If the Son of God hadn’t come to earth.

So in amongst all the festive cheer
Let’s think why we’re celebrating this year
Give God His place and thank Him too
That He sent His Son, Jesus, to make all things new
Sing with the angels as we again hear the story
“Peace to all and to God be the glory.”

Reconciliation to God

Sheltered in a stable
Snuggled in a manger
The baby Christ Jesus
Brought God to man.

Exposed on a hill top
Hung on a cross of wood
The man Christ Jesus
Brings man to God.

A miraculous birth
Brings peace to earth
A divine sacrifice
Imparts spiritual life.

Extraordinary

Is it just?
Is it right?
That a king
Should be born
In a stable!
Not a palace
How extraordinary!
But He is
No ordinary king.

Is it just?
Is it right?
That the Holy child
Should be placed
In a food trough!
Not a crib
How extraordinary!
But He is
No ordinary Son.

Is it just?
Is it right?
The creator of the world
Should be homeless!
Ostracised: rejected!
How extraordinary!
But He is
No ordinary God.

Is it just?
Is it right?
That a sinless man
Should be hung
On a cross!
Not acquitted
How extraordinary!
But He is
No ordinary man.

Jesus Christ
Equal with God
Humbled Himself
Became a servant
In obedience
Making me righteous
Justified
How extraordinary!
An ordinary person
Brought back to God.

Separated Trinity

At Christmas time
The Trinity was broken
Two left in heaven
One sent down to earth
A humble, human birth.

For the Son to leave the glory
What grace it must have taken
Knowing that my His very own
He would be rejected and forsaken.

At birth He chose the lowest place
A stable and a manger where animals feed
Lived a perfect life doing good to all
Yet, at the end, crucified and left to bleed.

Oh what amazing grace and love
God showed when He sent to earth from above
His Son, to reconcile us to Himself.

Epiphany

Was there?
Is there?
Only one star
That leads to the place
Where God incarnate
May be found?

Is there
Only one place?
One time?
Where I can find
Jesus
Emmanuel
God with me ?

NO!
For the guiding star
That gave light
Understanding
Insight
To wise men
Still shines
For me
Today.

God’s Word
Holy Spirit
Both give light
To lead me
Through the long, dark night
To where I may offer
My gifts.
In love
My self
Complete
To worship at His feet.

Where Are You?

I am waiting. Still waiting!
Where are you?
I am longing to hear from you.
You can call me anytime
Night or day
I am always available.
I keep hoping I shall hear from you.
I love you.
I’m reaching out to you.
I even sent my Son to help you understand me
And to show you how much I love you
Through him you can come into my Presence.

As you celebrate my Son’s birthday
Please remember to talk to me
I’m here, arms outstretched,
Waiting! Waiting!
Waiting for you.

I am Almighty God
I want to be your Heavenly Father
Please speak to me.
I love you.
I’m waiting.
Still waiting!
Where are you?
