Divine Doors
If there’s a fog on the path that lies ahead
Just take one step at a time
Trust Me, I’ve promised to hold your right hand
So everything will be fine.
You may encounter doors that are shut
That temporarily bar your way
But I will unlock from the other side
At the right time and on the right day.
Fix your focus on Me
My Presence will go with you
You will feel my love, have joy and peace
For I’ll be with you in all that you do.

Lean On Me
When you think to yourself
Or you say out loud
Nobody understands,
God gently whispers
“I understand,
I’ll walk beside you,
Hold your hand,
Lean on me.”
“I know your inmost feelings
Heart-felt
Deep
When you’re frightened
Angry
Upset
Awake
Asleep
Lean on me
I’ll take the weight
Ease the burden
Open the gate
Direct your path
You’ll have perfect peace
Of mind
Of heart
So,
Won’t you now
Really entrust
Your future
Your life
The whole of your self
To me?”

Path to the Future
When shadows fall across my path
I’ll keep going forward to where the light shines
The dismal, dark moments will quickly pass
And the warmth of the sunshine will soon be mine
If I keep looking up, disregarding the ruts
The well-meaning people with their ifs and buts
The end’s in my sight, the future is bright
And God has promised that it will be so
So I’ll travel today with my eyes on tomorrow.

Infinite Love
I am happy for God to lead me out
But not so content to be led in
For I know what the present is all about
The future’s scary because it’s unseen.
Yet all my tomorrow’s are in His sight
He has plans especially for me
Through the brightest day and darkest night
Will lead from my time to eternity.
The situation I find myself in today
May not be to my liking at all
“Please take this pain and hardship away
I don’t think I can scale this wall.”
Yet it’s in these painful, difficult days
God’s preparing me through my tears
To walk by faith, and follow His ways
Simply trust in spite of my fears.
Then as I learn to listen, in God to rest
By His grace, His peace floods my soul
I discover that His way is always best
Through my trials I’m being me whole.
So, setting my eyes on spiritual things
All the glories in heaven above
I begin to understand God’s perspective
And appreciate His infinite love.

A Glorious Future
I feel that I am unravelling
Thread by thread falling apart
But that is only my body
For there’s nothing wrong with my heart.
By heart I don’t mean the one that pumps
The blood around my body
I mean the innermost part of me
Sometimes called spirituality.
My spirit is far more important
Than my body which is fading away
Whereas the spirit is the part of me
That will enjoy an eternal day.
For when this body eventually dies
And lies buried in the earth
My God-breathed spirit will return to Him
In a wonderful form of rebirth.
God’s promised me a body like His
When I shall meet Him face to face
Yet it’s by absolutely nothing I’ve done
But by His wondrous love, power and grace.
So all I can say now is thank you
Thank you Father for so loving me
I look forward to spending my time with you
Throughout a glorious eternity.

Unknown Path
The path is often rugged
The valley in deepening shadow
There are cliffs that need climbing
If I fully intend to follow.
Follow God where He wants to take me
With giant steps or very small
Across many a deep river
Scaling a very high wall.
I need not worry about tomorrow
But concentrate on the now
For the one who is walking with me
Has full knowledge of the ‘why,’ ‘when’ and ‘how’.
Wherever the path may take us
Whatever the weather might be
I am promised that all will be well
Because my Shepherd is always with me.
He’s assured me we’ll reach the end safely
He’ll restore me along the way
With fresh green pastures and water
Till we reach the Thanksgiving Day.

The Future
The entrance to my future
Is barred by a strong, closed door
But if I search there’s a handle
That will bring me hope and more.
God has sole control of the door
Only He knows what lies behind
He can see all that will happen
Whilst I, to the future, am blind.
The word inscribed on the handle is faith
It opens spiritual eyes to see
Gives me confidence and assurance
In the plans God’s got in store for me.
