Throwaway

I feel just like a throwaway
On my way to a landfill site
Nobody really cares for me
Nor recognises my sorry plight.

But God knows exactly who I am
Opens His arms of love
Offers a fresh beginning for me
Doesn’t want me to be disposed of.

I gratefully run into His arms
Where I now feel very safe
He gives me back a purpose in life
I am not a “waste of space.”

God assures me I am special
There is no one else like me
If I put my trust and hope in Him
He’ll transform me into who I should be.

Pause To Consider

On your path of life right now
Just stop just where you are
Turn around. Look back
Consider from where you have come.
Today you stand where you are
Because of what God has done.
He has been with you as you travelled along
As you scrambled over rocks
Got scratched by brambles
Scaled walls; jumped ditches
Traversed narrow ridges
Crossed endless plains
In the pouring rain
Passed through very dark valleys
That caused you pain
BUT
Now pause; look back; be encouraged
Then turn, look forward – your heart full of hope
Boldly step up to climb the next slope.
For God’s promise stands firm
He’ll never leave you alone
And with Him as you seek
You’ll reach His holy peak.

Hope, Joy, Peace

Walking in your footsteps
Listening to your Word
Resting in your love
Delighting in you Lord.

I have hope. I have joy. I have peace.

Walking in the Spirit
Running after You
Flying ever higher
Just as Eagles do.

I have hope. I have joy. I have peace.

Learning more about you
Trusting day by day
Waiting in your Presence
I can know your way.

I have hope. I have joy. I have peace.

God of Hope

Hope, joy, peace, divine triad
Future hope of glory
Reflects joy and peace now.
Future heavenly hope
Giving present earthly peace.

Belief in the God of eternal hope
Fills me with joy and peace in time
Nothing between Jesus and me
Brings deep joy into my heart.

Even in floods of calamity; distress
Joy and peace coming from faith
Fill my soul, a continuous flow.

Trust in the hope- inspiring God
Fed by the words of Jesus Christ
Peace I leave you; peace I give
My joy will remain and fill
Every part of you as you learn
To live your life in Me.

Knowing this let us fix our eyes on Him
Who, for the joy that was set before
Suffered and died in love to bring
God’s peace and hope for evermore.

A Smouldering Wick

Today
A smouldering wick
Just about alight
God will not snuff out.

I will remember the days
Full of expectation
On fire
Yesterday.

I have changed
God has not
He is still the same
And ever will be
He will fan and nurture
Till the flame reappears
Tomorrow.

Blue Sky

The day is warm; the sun is bright
All the windows are letting in light
Yet around me hangs a cloud of despair
Profound feelings I’m unable to share
My whole sky is overcast
How long will this dreadful sadness last?

Only until I look up and see
There’s actually blue sky over me
God reminds me He is still there
Longing to give me His loving care.

Trust In The Dark

Darkness is intensely closing in
Hopes and dreams are dying
Meaninglessly circling round and round
All the pain and suffering denying.

In all the distress and anxiety
Almighty God often gets the blame
Yet when I’m as low as I can get
Jesus says, “Just call on my name.”

For my name has power to raise you up
Restore you and set you free
Don’t let your heart be troubled
Trust in God; trust also in me.

The Holy Spirit will sustain you
While I’ve gone away to prepare
A wonderful home in Paradise
That one day with you I’ll share.

I soon will return to fetch you
So that you will for ever be
With Me and with Father God
Surrounded by love in eternity.

Low Self-Esteem

When I question my self-worth
I just need to remember
The Son of God loved me
Gave Himself for me
Ever lives in heaven
To make intercession for me.

He has promised to be with me
To the end of the world
To the end of the age
Never to leave me
Never to forsake me.
The Son of God
Does all this
For me.

So
If God thinks
I’m worth all this
Of such great value
I should never think
I’m worthless
Valueless or unloved
I am not.

Through

The way to life is through death
The way to wholeness through brokenness
Hope through anguish and pain
Victory through surrender
Resurrection through crucifixion.

Fog and Bog

I was walking through a fog
Feet sinking in a bog
When to God I shouted out
“Please Lord get me out”
He reached me His hand
Pulled me out; helped me stand
Shed light on my way
My night was turned to day.
