Hope, Joy, Peace

Walking in your footsteps
Listening to your Word
Resting in your love
Delighting in you Lord.

I have hope. I have joy. I have peace.

Walking in the Spirit
Running after You
Flying ever higher
Just as Eagles do.

I have hope. I have joy. I have peace.

Learning more about you
Trusting day by day
Waiting in your Presence
I can know your way.

I have hope. I have joy. I have peace.

Instead

If I do something for someone else
Instead of just trying to please myself
I will find satisfaction.

If I only seek approval for my actions
Instead of giving sacrificially
I will be disappointed.

If I use my money to benefit others
Instead of accumulating stuff
I will be more contented.

If I dabble in lots, not specialising
Instead of being focused and tenacious
I will accomplish little.

If I live every day to the very full
Instead of wasting precious moments
I will have no regrets.

If I love God with all my heart and soul
And love my neighbour as myself
I will be blessed.

God of Hope

Hope, joy, peace, divine triad
Future hope of glory
Reflects joy and peace now.
Future heavenly hope
Giving present earthly peace.

Belief in the God of eternal hope
Fills me with joy and peace in time
Nothing between Jesus and me
Brings deep joy into my heart.

Even in floods of calamity; distress
Joy and peace coming from faith
Fill my soul, a continuous flow.

Trust in the hope- inspiring God
Fed by the words of Jesus Christ
Peace I leave you; peace I give
My joy will remain and fill
Every part of you as you learn
To live your life in Me.

Knowing this let us fix our eyes on Him
Who, for the joy that was set before
Suffered and died in love to bring
God’s peace and hope for evermore.

Splash of Gold

One solitary sycamore leaf
By violent winds buffeted
Ripped from its branch
Separated from all its friends
Lies sadly in the road
Dying alone
Its summer green already changed
To the yellow of autumn.
A bright splash of gold
On black, wet tarmac
That on a dull, gloomy day
Lifts my spirit
Cheers me on my way.

Soul Expressions

Intense moments of great happiness
Days of profound grief
Gentle moments of deep reflection.
Finding beauty in the mundane
Pleasure in the ordinary
Ecstasy in love. Hope for the future
God in nature. Heavenly thoughts.
Happenings that fill my heart
Till it overflows words.
They call it poetry
I call it, ‘Soul Expressions’
As they come from deep within my spirit
I simply open my hands
My heart overflows.

Pearl Necklace

Following a departure
And ensuing deep sorrow
Every memory stored
Is a pearl to treasure
Ponder. Thread together
One after the other
Into a beautiful necklace
Enhancing the wearer
Delighting the observer
Pearls of great price
Bring the past into the present
Hope for the future
A lasting peace
Even joy.

Slow Down

I didn’t have any time; I didn’t have any space
My everyday life was moving at such a pace!
But now Holy Spirit has convicted me
I need to slow down and be still
If I want to have real joy in my life
Feel God’s love; know His peace; do His will.

Let God Work

Life is very like a tree
In winter it renews its strength
Silently preparing for fruitfulness
Seasons of rain as well as sun
Are needful to get the Lord’s work done
Troubles I have now will soon be past
To be replaced by joy that will always last.
So I’ll just hold steady and let God work
Instead of worrying and going berserk
And the circumstances I’m in today
God will work for my good in His own way.

Thank you Lord I have learned
Through this painful hour.
That true success comes only through your power
I surrender myself and all I do
May your strength through my weakness
Bring glory to you.

Grandchildren Encouragement

My grandchildren bring me so much joy
Wholehearted love; sharing their hope
If it were not for them and their exuberance
I know I would find it much harder to cope
For in my ageing I need often to see
Energetic new life and how things can still be.

New Home

Moving day is fast approaching
Winter is changing to spring
Quite soon now I’ll be in my new home
With all the joy that will bring.

So I’m going to fix my eyes above
Let my imagination fly
For Jesus has promised to prepare for me
A room in Father’s home when I die.
