Passing Through

There are hills ahead
Mountains to climb
But they are only reached
Through valleys.

In the darkest places
Distressing times
Perplexing moments
Through pain.

It is then I come
To the end of myself
And yield to the Lord
Through His power.

In my losses, loneliness, fear
God is with me
Will make things clear
Through shadows.

So, I’ll trust the Lord
Who holds in His hands
The plans for me
For my future
And He has promised
To prosper me
Lead me to higher places
He’ll see me through.

The Upward Look

Stop looking down
Lift your eyes from the road
Look to the hills
To the mountains God made.
The creator of the heavens
Will not let you slip
He will never let you down
He is watching all the way
Has promised to defend
To protect, keep and guard
Night and day.

Your destiny is certain
Is surely getting close
Let the vision of what will be
Uphold you through your tears.
Lift your eyes to the peak
Through the clouds that obscure
To the shining mountain top
To where you’re going
Knowing God is always there
That His tender ceaseless care

Journey of Life

Mountains of uncertainty
Valleys of dark shadow
Uneven paths
That twist and turn.
Scary woods
Thick undergrowth
Brambles and briars
That entangle and scratch.

The journey of life
Is difficult
With pitfalls
Round every bend
But
If I keep my eyes
Focused upward
I shall get there
In the end.
