Deep Roots

Do I have soil
Where roots can go
Or is my heart hard
Just like rock
Where no one can enter
Although they knock.

O Lord I pray
Please take away
My heart of stone
Replace it today
With one like your own
Overflowing with passion
With care, with love
Soft and gentle like a dove
So that others may see
Christ in me.

Soul Thrill

I often look into the sky
Watch the clouds floating by
I think of you.

I sometimes wander through the trees
See leaves gently swaying in the breeze
I hear you speak.

I pass along a crowded street
Am aware of the many hurrying feet
I walk with you.

Quietly sitting down to have a drink
My mind fills and as I think
Reach out to you.

I thank, praise and worship in prayer
How wonderful it is to share
My soul is thrilled.

Real Prayer

Real prayer is actually a journey
Into the very heart of God
Intimate communion with Him
And listening to Him through His Word.

A prayerful life is a powerful life
Allowing God to work through me
But if I narrow or close the door
His richest blessings I will not see.

Yet there is a door I need to close
It is when I enter my room
The place where I in secret meet God
Face to face with Him commune.

Through Christ I can come directly to God
A privilege I should always treasure
Sometimes in awe I can only say. “Wow”
But for God this brings immense pleasure.

For God wants to hear that I love Him
He created me with this in mind
If I rest in Him He’ll reproduce in me
His love. Forgiving, gentle, kind.

So I will then be able to share
With my neighbours and those around
The unconditional love they would like
And in whom it can be found.

Every day we need to spend time with God
Leave the world and with the Lord share
Then come out from our special time with Him
Carry fragrance of His Presence everywhere.

Wordless Communication

When I’m lost for words
I ache inside
I have no strength to pray
The Holy Spirit intercedes
He is the One who finds the way
With groans too deep for words
Helps me from my heart to share
Turning my sighs into true prayer.

Bubbles & Fences

When the bubble bursts
I have a terrible loss
Who do I turn to?
Where do I go?
What do I do
To try and get through?

There is a reason transcending
Both dying and living
That has nothing to do
With any loss or bursting bubbles.

It is only to be found in God’s own plan
His provision of a Redeemer, the special One
That allows me
To boldly say and believe
To live is good but to die is gain.

By an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ
I can come close to Almighty God
Who is holy, just faithful, true
Yet longs to share with me His Father’s love too.

So inspired with hope and new confidence
I’m no longer sitting lonely on the fence
Watching my bubble disappear
Vainly waiting for it to reappear
But jump down, move forward into a new day
Leave the rest of my bubble to melt away.

Ask Seek Knock

I do not have
Because I am not asking
I do not find
Because I am not looking
Doors are not opening
Because I am not knocking.

I am encouraged
To ask
To seek
To knock
By Jesus
He will replace what I am
With who He is
The Way
The Truth
The Life.

Quiescence

Purposely still
I’ll know
God’s will.

His message
Heard
Through His Word.

With quietened mind
I’ll find
Peace.

In prayer
I’ll dare
To be silent.

In loving others
I’ll feel
His love.

Secret Place

Why not find a shady spot
Away from the noonday heat
A secret place where you can be
Alone with God, a secret meet.

He is always waiting for you there
He is never in a hurry
You can share with Him all your anxious thoughts
He’ll assure you, “Do not worry.”

He has carefully planned your way ahead
So you can securely rest
For He’ll help you surmount every problem
And He always knows what is best.

Whenever you leave your secret place
You have His promise He’ll always be near
So you can fully relax in His love
Always walk through your life without fear.

Stop

Stop!
Listen.
Is God speaking to you?
It’s good to speak to Him
But He wants to speak to you too.
So
Why not be quiet
Give God time
If you do
He’ll reveal things to you
That will blow your mind.

Prayer of Thanks and Dedication

We are only here Lord by your grace
For through your love we have seen your grace
We have come to know the Holy One
Who in sacrificial love sent His Son
So that we from sin can have release
Have sins forgiven and God’s perfect peace.

Please fill us with your love to overflow
Then everyone we meet will come to know
Not only your love, Father, but your grace too
Be blessed in everything they do
Experience the joy of their sins forgiven
Of expectant hope; of a place in heaven.
We pray your love and power may be felt today
In the way we act and in all we say.
May your perfect will in us be done
All glory to you Father, Holy Spirit, Son.
