Overflowing Supply

I’ll be very still
For in the quietness
I know I’ll find
My strength renewed
Peace of mind
Courage to continue.

When I long for the morning
To see day dawning
In the depths of despair
I am sure He is there
So I’ll count on the Lord
Put my hope in His Word
Know His unfailing love
Overflowing supply of salvation.

Psalm 130

Soul Peace

Oh,how I would love the wings of a dove
Then I would fly away, find a place to rest
Fly away in my distress
To the quiet of the wilderness.

I know the dove is a symbol of peace
I wonder it it can bring release
Give me freedom from all this pain
That is once more overwhelming me again.

The dove represents the Holy Spirit
Who can guard my heart and mind
Comfort me and through whom I can find
The deep, lasting peace I crave.

Please Lord hear my desperate prayer
The cry from my wounded heart
Answer me now as I come to you
Cause my anguish to depart.

Give me the soul peace you promise
Through the Holy Spirit’s power
Pour it to overflowing in me
I await the enabling shower.

Entering Rest

The present is clouded by disappointments
The past is tinted rose
The future is very important
Yet what it holds no one knows.

The past for me holds great happiness
The present difficult loneliness
What happens in the future, I can but guess
So I need to rely on God’s faithfulness.

I have found Him faithful in the past
In the present, now that I’m on my own,
I lean on Him, look to Him for help
I am certain He won’t leave me alone.

Today I want to experience the rest
Which Jesus secured for me
Entering in behind the veil
I find eternal security.

Quiescence

Purposely still
I’ll know
God’s will.

His message
Heard
Through His Word.

With quietened mind
I’ll find
Peace.

In prayer
I’ll dare
To be silent.

In loving others
I’ll feel
His love.

Psalm 62

Crisis

Even in the crisis you are facing now
With so many questions, how long?  Why?  How?
You can rest in assurance that God is near
And knowing this you need have no fear
Why not bring to Him your thanks and praise
That He has control of all your days.

Secret Garden

You’ve walked the way
He asked you to
You’ve followed the path
He chose
But now is the time
To sit
To rest
And in repose
To think of Him
To sit
To wait
To contemplate
The wonder of His love.

Now
For a while
He’s hemmed you in
Behind
Before
He wants you to sit
By the fast-closed door
To meditate
To see the flowers
So very many hues
Perfumes
Each one
A precious thought
Of Him.

So
Don’t rush on
Hurry by
Just be content
To let Him search
Your thoughts
Your heart
And in His time
He’ll take you through
The door with Him
In the Everlasting Way.

Psalm 139

Place of Prayer

I’m in the Oratory
Place of prayer
My heart is open
My life laid bare
I’m sitting; waiting
Lord, speak to me.
Give me your eyes
So that I may see
What you would have me to do.
I’m willing to do whatever you ask
Knowing in your strength I’ll complete the task
But I need to know that I’m doing the thing
That for sometime now you’ve been preparing
For me to do – so now I’m sitting
Quiet and still; Lord speak to me
Show me your will.

Presence

My Presence shall go with you
And I will give you rest
For you can fully trust me
I always know what’s best.

My Presence shall go with you
I will bring you peace
A peace the world cannot offer
A peace that will never cease.

My Presence shall go with you
You’ll share my Father’s love
A love that has no limits
That comes from heaven above.

My Presence shall go with you
And I will fill you with joy
A joy that even through times of distress
Nothing can destroy.

My Presence shall go with you
You will become more kind
A kindness that really is heartfelt
A gentleness of mind.

My Presence shall go with you
And you will know what’s good
So that even when evil surrounds you
You’ll distinguish the trees from the wood.

My Presence shall go with you
And I’ll increase your faith
By running along beside you
Until you’ve won the race.

My Presence shall go with you
Your knowledge of me will grow
And as you learn more about me
More to others you’ll be able to show.

My heart is at rest for God’s promise
Oh rich glorious mystery
Through His love & resurrection power
Hope of glory – Christ living in me.

Sweet Communion

There have been times when I have stayed
On the hilltop Lord with you
When everything was peace and joy
And overhead the sky was blue.

There were also times of trial and trouble
Days of doubt and nights of fear
But I never forgot you had promised
Through these times you would always be near.

I really enjoyed being busy
Although days were sometimes fraught
Working hard to extend your kingdom
Serving others as you have taught.

But the hardest time I find is when
I’m not sure of your will; can’t hear you speak
Minutes and hours when I try to listen
Then days that turn into weeks.

You have asked me to stand quite still Lord
Stop and wait to know your will
But I’m finding this very difficult
I would much rather climb the hill.

I do trust that all things work for my good
Because I love you with all my heart
And that you have called me for a purpose
But I don’t want to wait. Can’t I start?

You ask me to come and rest with you
You want to spend time with me
That you have lots you want to say
New things in your Word you want me to see.

So during these quiet days may I be
Content to rest, to sit at your feet
To know and feel your wonderful love
Listening and learning in communion sweet.

Rest

When I’m no longer anxious about today
Tomorrow or any day
Then I have entered Canaan’s land
A land of sufficiency, rest
Where I live in complete dependency
In the fullness of Jesus Christ.
