A Tranquil Life

A life of unhurried serenity
Of trust and peace and power
A life totally centred on God
Every day and every hour.

Instead of stress and strain, oppressed
With worries too great for me
I would like a richer, deeper life
Of composed tranquillity.

I renounce everything that leads me away
So I can focus on the One
Who, in total, peaceful surrender,
Showed me how it could be done.

Absolute faith in Almighty God
Who, in order to show me the way
Sent Jesus Christ to live in this world
Overcoming hardships and problems each day.

The secret He said is to follow Him
Even if it leads to loss
He gave up all the riches of heaven
To die upon a cross.

Yet beyond the suffering He could see the joy
That His Father would give to Him
Now I can be seated with Jesus in heaven
Because He has paid for my sin.

Having this wonderful prospect in view
And knowing my Saviour’s at God’s right hand
I can be completely free of stress
As I journey on to the Promised Land.

Bubbles & Fences

When the bubble bursts
I have a terrible loss
Who do I turn to?
Where do I go?
What do I do
To try and get through?

There is a reason transcending
Both dying and living
That has nothing to do
With any loss or bursting bubbles.

It is only to be found in God’s own plan
His provision of a Redeemer, the special One
That allows me
To boldly say and believe
To live is good but to die is gain.

By an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ
I can come close to Almighty God
Who is holy, just faithful, true
Yet longs to share with me His Father’s love too.

So inspired with hope and new confidence
I’m no longer sitting lonely on the fence
Watching my bubble disappear
Vainly waiting for it to reappear
But jump down, move forward into a new day
Leave the rest of my bubble to melt away.
