Bubbles & Fences

When the bubble bursts
I have a terrible loss
Who do I turn to?
Where do I go?
What do I do
To try and get through?

There is a reason transcending
Both dying and living
That has nothing to do
With any loss or bursting bubbles.

It is only to be found in God’s own plan
His provision of a Redeemer, the special One
That allows me
To boldly say and believe
To live is good but to die is gain.

By an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ
I can come close to Almighty God
Who is holy, just faithful, true
Yet longs to share with me His Father’s love too.

So inspired with hope and new confidence
I’m no longer sitting lonely on the fence
Watching my bubble disappear
Vainly waiting for it to reappear
But jump down, move forward into a new day
Leave the rest of my bubble to melt away.

Trials

Each trial can become a ladder
Leading me up to God
Then when I reach the top
I shall see things as I should.

If I seek to endure my trial
It will surely master me
And if I try to escape it
I’ll miss the purpose God means it to be.

If I firmly choose to embrace my trial
What God intends will be achieved
On the top step I’ll be victorious
All because I stood firm and believed.

Fast Closed Doors

I’m at the door
Knocking- banging
My knuckles raw
I scream, I shout
What it’s all about?
I want to know
Which way to go
But the door stays shut
I’m in a rut
Don’t know what to do.
Will God see me through
This troubled time
Of despair and suffering
That is mine?
I will not curse God
I still have faith
And I know that some day
By His grace
I’ll see His face
He will open the door
Let me see
All the blessings
He’s prepared for me.

Suffering

Pain can be a catalyst
Throwing me back on the Lord
Gently through my suffering
Bringing me back to His Word.

Where I read how painful trials will come
How in all I should praise God’s name
Commit myself to my great high priest
Who through all things remains the same.

Yes, Jesus shares with me in my pain
And quietly reminds me again and again
That I can approach the throne of grace
To find help in my time of need.

Where is Peace?

Hearing the news and looking round about
We see strife and war, famine and drought.
Everything seems messy and confusing
None of which is of our choosing
Physically, mentally, emotionally bruising
Oh! Where can we find peace?

Everyone today is so demanding
Responsibilities are always expanding
We’re told God can give peaceful satisfaction
But God is far above our comprehension
And we’m so busy, have so much distraction
We’ve no time to search for peace.

Precious Jewels

Diamonds are not found on the surface
But deep down where the pressure is great
And the most wondrous pearl in an oyster
Where sharp grit for years did irritate.

When in my life I have troubles and trials
When my suffering is hard to bear
Through every circumstance and situation
God is forming me, a jewel costly and rare.

For all God’s children will one day be part
Of the beautiful crown of the King
And like the stars of the morning shining
As bright gems will being glory to Him.

Scars

Have you been wounded?
Do you have scars?
Don’t let them define you
You really don’t have to
They can all be removed
By one with eternal scars
He received on your behalf
Although he was totally innocent.

Why did he do this?
Because of his love
A love so great he was willing to die
To remove all your scars.

All he wants from you
Are your heartfelt thanks.
What wonderful news
His scars will remain
But yours all removed
All your scars gone!
Gone forever!

Just Gold

Just
I’m just…. just….
No more just
I am gold
Gold being tried
Tried by fire
Going through trials
Purifying the gold.

After tribulation
I’ll be pure gold
Reflecting God
His golden glory
Pure gold
Me…. gold
Reflecting God’s glory.

Hope, Joy, Peace

In the middle of trouble
I can have hope, joy and peace
A relationship with God
That never will cease.

So although in this world
Suffering and trials increase
Through everything; everywhere
I can have hope, joy and peace.

For Jesus Christ has promised
That if I simply believe
I’ll be reconciled to God
Peace and forgiveness receive.

Poem based on John 16:33

“You may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows but take heart, because I have overcome the world.”
