It’s amazing who Jesus decided to choose
Not intelligent, gifted, spiritual, strong
But ordinary people who would serve lifelong.
Impulsive, shy, doubting and proud
Young and old, silent and loud
From different backgrounds, jobs, opinions, belief
In prayer chose these people, became Commander in Chief.
He lived with them, taught them day after day
Showed how to have faith, preach, heal and pray.
How ordinary became extraordinary is now plain to see
It was Jesus. Christ Himself, the uniting key.
Today, if the risen Christ lives in me
I can change weakness for strength, His wisdom for folly
Courage for my fear, my failure His victory
He puts extra in my ordinary that makes ordinary extraordinary!
