Time always rules my life
Constantly moving forward
Measured from seconds to minutes
Hours, days, weeks, months
Years, decades, centuries
And never, never a reprise.
Time has a beginning and an end
A past, a present, a future
A before, a during, an after
A looking forward, a looking back.
Incessantly, steadily changing
Unrelentingly, irrevocably ageing.
Time was created by God
Who lives totally out of time
Who predates the existence of past and future
The ever-present great ‘I am’
Who looking into the future can see
What I will be doing, where I will be.
I can never with my mind know what God is doing
It remains for me a mystery
Yet God has set eternity in my heart
And I must try to reach outside myself
To give meaning to my life in time
Beyond my mortality to seek the One
Who will one day take me out of time
To share His glory and eternity divine.
Ecclesiastes 3:11
