It’s essential that I take time for myself
To sometimes stop and simply be
There is always so much to be fitted in
That there isn’t time left for just me.
Time when I do not have to ‘do’
Can watch cirrus clouds float on high
Absorb the beauty of the petals of flowers
Hear swaying grass gently sigh.
I must impress on my mind that there’s more
More to life than activity
For its during silent moments of reflection
I’ll find satisfying joy in passivity.
So I promise myself that I will slow down
Slow down to hear and see
What I never will find by rushing around
In frantic activity.
