Belle Eau (Beautiful Water)

Categories: Nature

There’s a stream that runs around Shalom
It is called ‘Belle Eau’
As I think on it I realise
That life is like a stream
Ever moving, ever changing
Flowing through different seasons
Never stopping.

Leaves fall into it; are swept away
Banks that slide and crumble dirty the water
But it all gets washed away.
Sometimes the stream is forced to make a detour
Round a fallen branch, a rotting log or rock.

Some days the water sparkles
On cloudy days it’s dull
Still it proceeds fast or slow
Ever onwards towards its end
Where it will be embraced by the sea
Enclosed in the ocean of eternity.
