What an agonising day that was for her
When a sword of grief pierced her soul
And the words spoken when her Son was born
Came true; saw Him die, seemingly lose control.
They took His body down from the cross
Placed it in a tomb that very same night
A huge stone was rolled across as a door
Then was sealed to make sure it was tight.
The following day was silent and dark
A day of great loss; desolation
The mounting grief quite unbearable
Of deepest anguish and desperation.
Salome, three Mary’s, of whom one was His mum
Went with spices on Sunday at dawning
To anoint and embalm the dead body, but saw
Only two angels sitting that morning.
The great rolling stone had been moved aside
The angels said, “Don’t be afraid, go and tell
His friends, He has risen, He’s alive!”
They left their spices, ran announcing, “All’s well!”
Others then went to the garden tomb
Found it empty as the women had said
Overwhelmed and astounded; sorrow turned to joy
They celebrated the great news, “Jesus isn’t dead!”
Indeed, Jesus had risen, is alive today
Seated with Father God in the heavenly place
Now because of His sacrifice we can all come
Free from sin; speak to God face to face!
HALLELUJAH!
