True Love

Categories: Bible, Jesus, Love

It was Passover evening in Jerusalem
When thirteen friends walked down the street.
They entered the house where the meal was prepared
But there was no servant to wash their feet.

Jesus sadly looked around at them all
When they all sat down for supper
Quickly realised when no one moved
That they didn’t really love one another.

With love poured out in a basin
Water so cooling and sweet
The God of all creation
Washed all those tired, dusty feet.

And although He was Lord and Master
He humbled Himself and knelt
By washing away the dirt of the day
He demonstrated how true love is felt.
