Why a star when Jesus was born?
Why did angels sing that first Christmas morn?
The star invited wisemen to come see
A baby who’d arrived from eternity
The angels told shepherds where Christ was born
In a stable in Bethlehem at the crack of dawn.
Wisemen and shepherds approached the child King
Knelt and worshipped Him wondering
What life would be like for this tiny one
Who His mother told them was God’s holy Son.
The wisemen returned to their countries to tell
That they’d seen Jesus, God with us, Emmanuel
The shepherds were thrilled that they’d been given first
The special message from God of the virgin birth.
About thirty years later from that wonderful event
Jesus was found guilty of death and sent
To be crucified, although He’d done no wrong
But this was God’s redemption plan all along.
That His son should be killed to redeem each one
Who were dying from sin that they had done
Yet he should rise again thus conquering death
And all this had begun with the virgin birth.
The arrival of Jesus turned darkness to light
There was a star and the glory of angels that night
Now back in heaven Christ says, ‘follow the star’
And find Him with His Father where the angels are.
