Colours of Life

Categories: Hope, Life

The colours of life are not only seen
But felt and experienced deep within
The peace at the end of a summer day.
Watching the sunlight fading away
Or the quietness of an early morn
Watching the sky in the breaking dawn.

The joy on hearing a newborn’s cry
Of watching a fledgling trying to fly
Of seeing again a long lost friend
Crossing the line at the marathon’s end
Joy of hearing you’ve passed the test
After a very long life sitting down to rest.

Among the bright colours creeps a darker hue
As important as others as life’s tapestry spun
Losing a match you were meant to win
What you thought was silver turns out to be tin
The sadness of saying goodbye in death
Watching a loved one take a last breath.

I need hope that always eternal springs
A lifting of heart and soul that brings
A positive outlook for tomorrow
That replaces thoughts of doubt or sorrow
Seeing each new day with wide open eyes
That around the next corner there’ll be a surprise.

This hope that long remained a mystery
Has now been disclosed for all to see
What was hidden for generations and ages
All can now read in the Bible’s pages
The secret of God’s riches revealed openly
The HOPE of glory – Christ in me!

Colossians 1:26-27
