He was born a normal human being
Passed through all the growing-up stages
From baby to toddler, teenager to man.
He was met with the usual trials and problems
We all have from day to day
He also knew rejection and scorn.
He lived the life of a pauper
Never owned more than the clothes on his back
Was betrayed by a friend and got arrested.
Although he was totally innocent
He was humiliated, tortured and condemned to death
By the cruellest means possible.
Nailed to a cross, separated from God
He willingly gave up his life to save me
From the punishment I deserved.
By this completely righteous man
And his miraculous resurrection from the dead
I can now be redeemed.
This man, human sacrifice
Is now in heaven crowned King of Kings
His name Jesus Christ the Lord.
