Up a steep and rugged pathway
My journey’s recently taken me
And the way ahead is shrouded
So, I continue in uncertainty.
When I’m feeling well and fit
And the day is warm and bright
I’m happy to keep climbing upward
Trying to hold the peak in sight.
Yet when the day is dark
I am feeling tired and depressed
I don’t really want to carry on
But sit down and get some rest.
It’s on days like these that Jesus
Reminds me He’s walking with me
Encourages me to keep going
Through all the adversity.
Then He tells me He will not leave me
But, climbing together, He and I
Will eventually reach the summit
See the glory of God in the sky.
