Loving Immortality

Categories: Bereavement

When I’m alone
I still often cry
Although it’s now two years
Since I said goodbye.

Said goodbye to a soulmate
Who for so many years
Laughed with me often
Always dried my tears.

With his unexpected departure
Goodbye was very fast
But his parting words to me
In my heart will always last.

In fact we didn’t say goodbye
Just the three words ‘I love you’
And the power in these three small words
Has helped to carry me through.

Through to where I am today
Learning to live alone
It has been very difficult
Doing everything on my own.

The cord of love that binds
I cannot see but am aware
That it is very gently drawing
Me to him somewhere.

Somewhere that yet I cannot see
Beyond pain, tears, darkness, death
A place out of time in eternity
Where there’s loving immortality.
