What is Christmas if it isn’t love
When God came to earth from his home above
Came to a troubled world as a baby boy
Bringing His love and peace and very great joy.
Obedient to His parents as he grew to a man
Jesus demonstrated perfectly that we all can
Be kind and compassionate, share and care
With profound and pure love others’ burdens share.
But we first need to come to that humbling place
Accepting God’s mercy and redeeming grace
Acknowledge that not one of us is without sin
And therefore have no right to be let in.
Into the Holy Place of Almighty God
But of course He knew this so He sent His Word
To become flesh and live here on earth
Entering the world by a virgin birth.
Jesus, always obedient to His Father above,
Spent the whole of His life revealing God’s love
Eventually allowing Himself to be given
As a sacrifice for sin, thus opening heaven.
Now today, as Jesus has returned to glory,
He has left us to continue His wondrous love story
Not judging or critical but loving and kind
For in this the true secret of joy we shall find.
